Photo-Rama
Welcome to the Orsi.net Photo-Rama! Here you'll find some pictures I've taken over the past three years or so, particularly ones from my winter spent skiing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Recent additions are shots of a trip to Ireland, rock and ice climbing in the Catskills, backcountry skiing in Grand Teton National Park, a three-day ski tour in Yellowstone, and a Fourth of July one-day ascent of Mt. Whitney, highest point in the lower 48.

Rock climbing in the Gunks, near New Paltz, NY.

Hell Hole
Ice climbing at the Hell Hole in the Catskills. Yes, that's really the name of the place.

July 4, 2002
Mt. Whitney, CA
A one-day ascent of Mt. Whitney, CA, highest point in the lower 48. 13 hours round-trip to the summit (14,495 feet), with the most stunning alpine scenery imaginable along the way.

February 15-17, 2002
Ski Touring in Yellowstone National Park
A tremendous ski tour in the land of frozen nights and hot springs. This trip had a little bit of everything -- fording rivers, -23° (yes, negative) nights, 30° and sunny days, and gorgeous scenery.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Some shots taken on a sunny day at the resort. I'm working on the white balance issues...

Quest for Pow
When the resort denies, the backcountry provides. The eternal Quest for Pow takes me to Wimpy's Knob in Grand Teton National Park for a full day of randonee action.

January 22, 2002
Powder Day
January 22 was a tremendous powder day at JHMR. Close to two feet of fresh fell in less than 24 hours. These pictures look awful, but hopefully you'll get a sense of what the sweet, sweet pow is all about.

January 10, 2002
Grand Targhee
The weather finally cleared at Grand Targhee ski resort (knicknamed "Grand Foggy"), so I was able to take some pictures. The view from the top of the mountain is amazing. My photographic skills don't do it justice.

Jackson — Hole, Sweet Hole
Jackson, Wyoming -- where I lived for the winter of 2001-2002.

November 30, 2001
Nebraska — Real American Heavy Metal
There, on the horizon, out of the infinite wastes of central Nebraska, rose a hulking icon of freedom. The M-80 Main Battle Tank... A bizarre tourist stop on my drive out to Jackson, WY.

October 27 - 28, 2001
Grand Teton National Park
Here are some shots I took while hiking in Grand Teton National Park, about 12 miles north of Jackson. The peaks in them are mainly the Grand Teton (the big one), the South Teton, and Mt. Owen. The lake is called String Lake.

September 9 - 11, 2001
Kayaking the Upper Delaware
Our annual journey down the River Mild, made surreal in 2001 by its conclusion on September 11th.

June 26, 2001
Jorsipalooza 2001 — The Shaming
This event needs no introduction...
though you will need to email me for a password to see it.

Storm King Mountain, NY
Pics I took while hiking up Storm King along the Hudson, just north of West Point, NY. Hiking there is technically forbidden because of unexploded ordnance left over from its previous use for Army artillery practice.
